Terms of Service

The agreement between you and Echo Lingua for use of the app and API.

Last updated: 2 October 2026

1. Acceptance of these Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and Echo Lingua ("we", "us" or "our"), which operates as a sole trader, and govern your access to and use of the Echo Lingua application, the Echo Lingua HTTP API, and related services (together, the "Service").

By creating an account, or by accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

If you accept these Terms on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you are authorised to bind that organisation, and "you" refers to that organisation.

2. The Service

Echo Lingua is an AI-powered translation platform for gettext .po catalogs. You submit locale catalogs, choose a quality tier and options, and the Service returns translated catalogs that preserve structure such as placeholders, plural forms and markup.

The Service is provided on a software-as-a-service basis. We may add, change or remove features from time to time.

3. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the Service.

You are responsible for the information you provide, for keeping your account credentials secure, and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly of any unauthorised use.

4. Organisations, teams and roles

Your account belongs to an organisation, which is the billing and data boundary for the Service. A personal account is an organisation of one.

An organisation owner may invite members (including by invite code), assign roles, create departments, set spend caps, and control which members can view usage, manage billing, or edit shared settings such as the glossary.

The organisation owner is responsible for the acts and omissions of its members and for all fees the organisation incurs. All members must comply with these Terms.

5. API keys and security

You may create API keys to access the Service programmatically. Keys are scoped (for example, translate:write and jobs:read) and are shown only once, when created.

Keep your keys confidential. You are responsible for all activity performed with your keys. Revoke any key you believe has been compromised. We are not liable for loss arising from your failure to keep credentials secure.

We use Cloudflare Turnstile on our public forms to prevent automated abuse; see our Privacy Policy for how it processes data.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the Service in violation of any law or the rights of others;
  • submit content you do not have the right to submit, or that is unlawful, infringing or malicious;
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, or interfere with or disrupt it;
  • circumvent usage limits, spend caps, rate limits or security controls;
  • reverse engineer or attempt to derive the source code of the Service, except to the extent this restriction is prohibited by law;
  • resell, sublicense, or use the Service to build a competing product, without our written consent.

We may investigate suspected violations and take appropriate action, including suspending or terminating access.

7. Your content and intellectual property

As between you and us, you retain all rights in the catalogs and content you submit ("Your Content") and in the translated output the Service returns ("Output").

You grant us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host, process, transmit and display Your Content and Output solely as needed to provide, secure and support the Service, including transmitting Your Content to the AI provider you select.

We retain all rights in the Service itself, including its software, design and trademarks. These Terms grant you no rights in the Service except the right to use it in accordance with them.

8. AI providers and translation quality

Translations are generated by third-party AI providers that you select (currently Anthropic, OpenAI and Google Gemini). To translate, Your Content is transmitted to the selected provider, whose processing of that content is governed by its own terms.

AI-generated translations may contain errors or omissions. The Service provides integrity checks and a review workflow, but you are solely responsible for reviewing Output before you rely on, publish or ship it. We do not warrant the accuracy, quality or fitness of any translation.

9. Fees, billing and credits

Standing charge. Paid accounts pay a recurring monthly platform-access fee (the "Standing Charge"), currently $50 per month. The Standing Charge is required to run jobs and is separate from usage.

First month. For eligible self-serve sign-ups, the first month’s Standing Charge is waived for a period of 30 days. Usage during that period is still charged.

Usage. Translation jobs are charged per 1,000 source words at the time each job runs, at a rate that depends on the quality tier selected (Draft, Standard or Pro), and are subject to a small per-job minimum. Current rates are shown on our Pricing page and in the estimate before you submit a job; you are billed for actual usage.

Prepaid balance. By default, you add funds in advance and jobs draw them down. Jobs will not run when your balance is insufficient.

Monthly invoicing. Eligible organisations may be approved to run on metered usage invoiced monthly against an agreed limit, instead of a prepaid balance.

Taxes. Fees are exclusive of taxes. You are responsible for any applicable taxes, other than taxes on our net income.

Non-payment. If your Standing Charge subscription lapses, or an invoice is not paid when due, we may pause or suspend access until the amount owed is settled.

Changes to fees. We may change our fees on 30 days’ notice. Changes do not affect funds already drawn down.

Refunds. Except where required by law or expressly stated in these Terms, fees and prepaid funds, including any unused prepaid balance when you close your account, are non-refundable.

10. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the Service and close your account at any time.

We may suspend or terminate your access, in whole or in part, if you breach these Terms, fail to pay fees when due, or where reasonably necessary to protect the Service, other users, or to comply with law.

On termination, your right to use the Service ends and outstanding fees remain payable. Handling of Your Content after termination is described in our Privacy Policy. Provisions that by their nature should survive (including fees owed, intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability and indemnification) survive termination.

11. Warranties and disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, or that translations will be accurate or fit for your purpose. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of the above may not apply to you.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither party will be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenues, data or goodwill, arising out of or relating to the Service.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will not exceed the total fees you paid to us in the 3 months before the event giving rise to the liability.

13. Indemnification

You will defend, indemnify and hold harmless Echo Lingua from and against any claims, damages, liabilities and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of Your Content, your use of the Service, or your breach of these Terms or of applicable law.

14. Changes to the Service and these Terms

We may modify the Service and these Terms from time to time. If we make a material change to these Terms, we will provide reasonable notice, for example by email or in-app. Changes take effect on the date stated, and your continued use of the Service after that date constitutes acceptance.

15. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of England & Wales, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The courts of England & Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, subject to any mandatory rights you may have as a consumer in your country of residence.

16. General

  • Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service.
  • Severability. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
  • No waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
  • Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
  • Force majeure. Neither party is liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond its reasonable control.
  • Notices. We may give notice by email or through the Service.
